Lambis, commonly known as the Spider Conch or Thorny Spider Conch, is a large species of marine gastropod mollusk found in the warm tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. It belongs to the family Strombidae and is renowned for its elaborate shell structure and distinctive appearance.

The shell of Lambis lambis is characterized by its large size, typically reaching lengths of up to 30 centimeters (12 inches) or more. It features a complex, spiny outer lip and elongated, spider-like projections extending from the shell’s body whorl, giving it a unique and intricate appearance reminiscent of spider legs.

In addition to its striking shell, the Spider Conch is known for its active behavior and scavenging habits. It feeds primarily on detritus and organic matter found on the ocean floor, using its long siphon to detect food and sense its surroundings.

Due to their striking appearance and interesting behaviors, Lambis lambis are popular among collectors and enthusiasts of marine shells and invertebrates. However, they require a mature and stable marine aquarium with plenty of space to accommodate their size and provide appropriate hiding places. Additionally, proper care should be taken to ensure water quality and stability to support the health and longevity of these fascinating creatures.
