The Chestnut Turbo Snail, scientific name Turbo castanea, is a species of marine snail that is popular in the aquarium trade for its ability to consume algae and detritus. It has a large, spiral shell that can reach up to 3 inches in diameter and is primarily brown in color with darker stripes or bands. The snail has a large muscular foot that it uses to move around and a rasping mouthpart called a radula that it uses to scrape algae and other food off of rocks and aquarium surfaces. Chestnut Turbo Snails are generally hardy and easy to care for in a well-established aquarium with good water quality.
