Acropora echinata, commonly known as the “Green Eyed Coral” or “Blue Ridge Coral,” is a species of small polyp stony coral that belongs to the family Acroporidae. It is found in shallow water environments, such as coral reefs and lagoons, throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. This coral species is highly variable in color, with colonies ranging from green, brown, and purple to blue and pink. It has thin branches with small, pointed corallites and can form dense colonies that provide habitat for a variety of marine organisms. Like many coral species, Acropora echinata is threatened by human activities such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change.
