The Australian Stripey, also known as the Banded Wrasse, is a popular marine aquarium fish native to the waters around Australia. As the name suggests, it is known for its distinct banded pattern, with alternating light and dark stripes running horizontally along its body. The Australian Stripey is a hardy and active fish that can grow up to 8 inches in length. It requires a tank with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots, as well as a well-established live rock structure for grazing. This species can be aggressive towards other fish, especially other wrasses, so it is best kept singly or with other larger, more aggressive fish. In terms of diet, the Australian Stripey is omnivorous and will readily accept a variety of foods including frozen and live meaty foods, as well as a high-quality marine pellet or flake. It is important to feed this fish several small meals per day rather than one large feeding, as it has a relatively small stomach.
