The Bird Wrasse, also known as Gomphosus varius, is a species of marine fish in the family Labridae, commonly found in coral reefs and rocky areas in the Indo-Pacific region. It is known for its elongated beak-like mouth and its ability to eat hard-shelled invertebrates such as crabs, snails, and sea urchins. The Bird Wrasse has a distinct color pattern, with a greenish-blue body and a bright yellow tail. Juvenile Bird Wrasses have a different color pattern, with a black and white vertical stripe on their body and a yellow tail. They are popular aquarium fish but can be challenging to keep due to their specialized diet and need for a large swimming space.
