The Banded Brittle Star (Ophiactis vittata) is a type of brittle sea star that is found in the western Atlantic Ocean, from the eastern coast of the United States down to Brazil. As its name suggests, this species has distinct bands of color on its arms, usually alternating between brown and white or yellow. They have slender arms that can grow up to 10 inches long and can move in a snake-like manner to navigate through their environment. Banded Brittle Stars are known to be hardy and relatively easy to care for in aquariums. They are scavengers and will feed on a variety of foods, including detritus, leftover food, and small pieces of meaty foods. They also require a stable and clean water environment with good filtration and proper water parameters. In the wild, Banded Brittle Stars are commonly found in seagrass beds, sandy flats, and near coral reefs, where they hide in crevices and under rocks during the day and come out at night to feed. They are able to regenerate lost arms, which is a common defense mechanism among brittle stars.

Dwarf Colored Feather Duster
Call for PriceThe Dwarf Colored Feather Duster, also known as the Dwarf Feather Duster or Sabellastarte sp., is a small and colorful species of marine segmented worm. It has a tube-like body that can range in color from red, orange, yellow, pink, or brown, with a feathery crown of tentacles used for feeding and respiration. This species is popular in reef aquariums due to its vibrant colors and filter-feeding habits. It requires a stable environment with high water quality and a consistent source of planktonic food. It is generally a hardy species that is easy to care for, but may require supplemental feeding in smaller aquariums. The Dwarf Colored Feather Duster is a sessile species that will attach to rockwork or other substrate in the aquarium. It reproduces by releasing larvae into the water column, which will settle and attach to a suitable surface to form a new individual. It may also retract into its tube if disturbed or threatened by predators.
