The Cuban Hogfish, also known as the Spot-cheeked Hogfish or the Candy Hogfish, is a species of saltwater fish in the wrasse family. It is native to the western Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Bermuda and the Bahamas to Brazil, including the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. They has a distinctive coloration, with a bright orange-yellow body and a black patch covering its eyes. The fins are also bright yellow, with the dorsal fin having a black margin. It can grow up to 20 inches in length and is known to be a predatory fish, feeding on crustaceans and small fish. In the aquarium trade, the Cuban Hogfish is a popular species due to its bright coloration and active personality. However, it requires a large aquarium with plenty of hiding places and open swimming space. It may also become aggressive towards other fish and invertebrates in the tank, so it is best kept with similarly sized and tempered species.
