The Derasa Clam, also known as Tridacna derasa, is a species of saltwater clam that belongs to the family Tridacnidae. It is one of the smaller species of giant clams, typically growing up to 12 inches in length. The Derasa Clam has a thick, heavy shell that is usually brown or gray in color, with distinctive wavy ridges. The mantle, or fleshy part of the clam that protrudes from the shell, is usually a light brown or tan color, and is marked with distinctive blue and green stripes. The edges of the mantle are often rimmed with a bright blue color, which gives the Derasa Clam its characteristic appearance. These clams are filter feeders, and can be found in shallow coral reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
