The Dojo Loach, also known as the Weather Loach, Pond Loach or Oriental Weatherfish, is a freshwater fish species that belongs to the loach family. It is named for its ability to sense changes in barometric pressure, and is often kept in outdoor ponds to help predict upcoming weather changes. The Dojo Loach has a long, slender body with a brown or olive green coloration and a pale underbelly. They are peaceful and can be kept in a community aquarium with other non-aggressive fish species. They are bottom-dwellers and spend much of their time hiding in substrate or under decor. These loaches are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods, including sinking pellets, flakes, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. The Dojo Loach can grow up to 12 inches in length and can live for several years with proper care. They prefer a well-oxygenated aquarium with plenty of hiding places such as caves or driftwood. It’s worth noting that Dojo Loaches are social and should be kept in groups of at least 3 individuals to ensure they feel comfortable and exhibit natural behaviors.
