The filamented flasher wrasse, also known as the whip-fin flasher wrasse, is a small and colorful fish that is native to the Indo-Pacific region. It has a striking appearance, with a bright blue body and yellow fins. Males of this species have elongated dorsal fin filaments that trail behind them as they swim, hence the name “filamented flasher wrasse.” In the wild, filamented flasher wrasses are typically found on coral reefs and feed on small invertebrates and zooplankton. They are also popular among aquarium hobbyists due to their bright colors and active swimming behavior. However, they require a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding places and a varied diet consisting of small meaty foods, such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. It is important to note that some species of wrasses, including the filamented flasher wrasse, can be aggressive towards other fish of a similar size and shape, so they are best kept in a species-specific tank or with other peaceful fish.
