The Fire Eel, also known as the Freshwater Moray Eel, is a large and exotic species that is sought after by many aquarium enthusiasts. They are native to rivers and streams in Southeast Asia, and can grow up to 3 feet in length. Despite their name, they are not true eels, but rather a type of fish in the Mastacembelidae family. Fire Eels are known for their long and slender bodies, which are covered in a shiny, metallic-like sheen that gives them a fiery appearance. They are also prized for their peaceful nature and their ability to coexist with a variety of other species in a community aquarium. However, they do require a large tank with plenty of hiding spots and a soft substrate, as well as a diet of meaty foods such as worms, shrimp, and small fish.
