The Flagtail Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris yanoi) is a small species of goby that is commonly found in the Western Pacific Ocean, particularly around Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. It typically grows to a length of about 4 inches (10 cm) and has a yellowish body with a series of brown bands and spots. They are also known for its symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp, which live in the same burrow as the goby. The pistol shrimp creates and maintains the burrow, while the goby acts as a lookout, keeping watch for predators and warning the shrimp of any danger. In return, the shrimp provides the goby with protection and helps to maintain the burrow. This mutualistic relationship is a fascinating example of interspecies cooperation in the animal kingdom.
