All tanks use thesame media.Pure medium uses one media tray, Pure Large uses two media trays,Pure Extra Large uses three media trays.

As the water goes through the mechanical filtration (sponge) it trickles through to the biological filtration (biomax) compartment and runs through the bottom of media basket. After if exits the basket it runs through the chemical filtration (carbon) that is in a micron poly bag. Then the water trickles back into the tank.

The power head intake sends 20% of the water back through the tank out of a side output. This will create a water flow to circulate the water in the tank.
