The Glove Polyp (Clavularia sp.) is a popular soft coral that is known for its unique shape and vibrant colors. The polyps are typically small and tube-shaped, with a bright green, pink, or yellow coloration that can add a splash of color to any reef tank. The Glove Polyp is easy to care for, making it a good choice for beginner aquarists. They require moderate to high lighting and moderate water flow to thrive. The Glove Polyp is a colonial species, meaning that it grows in clusters rather than as individual polyps. They are peaceful and generally do not sting other corals or invertebrates, but can compete for space with other corals and should be given enough room to grow without crowding out their neighbors. In the reef aquarium, the Glove Polyp can reproduce easily by budding, where new polyps grow off the base or mouth of the parent polyp to create a larger colony. They also contain zooxanthellae, a symbiotic algae that provides them with nutrition through photosynthesis. However, they can also be fed with small pieces of meaty foods like mysis shrimp or plankton to supplement their diet.
