The Gold Spotted (L-136) Plecostomus is a freshwater fish that’s native to the Rio Xingu in Brazil. They have a distinctive pattern of gold or yellow spots against a black background, with a flat and wide body shape. These fish are bottom-dwellers and are known for their ability to keep aquariums clean by eating algae and leftover food. They are generally peaceful and can be kept in a community aquarium with other peaceful fish. However, they can become territorial if overcrowded or if there’s not enough hiding places in the aquarium. They require a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of hiding places and a varied diet to thrive. Gold Spotted Plecos can grow up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length and are suitable for medium-sized aquariums. They are relatively hardy and easy to care for, but require a lot of space and a strong filtration system due to their high waste production.
