The Reticulated Hillstream Loach, also known as the Reticulated Loach or Reticulated Butterfly Sucker, is a freshwater fish species that belongs to the loach family. It is named for its intricate, reticulated pattern of black and white on its body. The Reticulated Hillstream Loach is an active fish that requires strong water currents and well-oxygenated water. They are typically found in fast-flowing streams and rivers in their natural habitat. In an aquarium setting, they require similar conditions, so a strong water flow and the use of a powerhead or canister filter is recommended. These loaches are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods, including algae wafers, sinking pellets, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. The Reticulated Hillstream Loach can grow up to 4 inches in length and can live for several years with proper care. They prefer a rocky aquarium setup with plenty of hiding places such as caves or crevices, and should be kept in groups of at least 5 individuals to ensure they feel comfortable and exhibit natural behaviors.
