The Black Sea Cucumber (Holothuria atra) is a marine invertebrate that belongs to the phylum Echinodermata. It is also known as the black teatfish, and is found in the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. This species of sea cucumber is known to be an important part of reef ecosystems, as it helps to recycle nutrients and organic matter. In the wild, it feeds on detritus and organic matter that it collects from the ocean floor. In captivity, it can be fed a variety of foods such as dried seaweed, shrimp, and other meaty foods. The Black Sea Cucumber is considered an expert-only species due to its sensitive nature and specific care requirements. It requires a well-established aquarium with excellent water quality, low nitrates, and low copper levels. It should be kept in a sandy substrate, and provided with plenty of hiding places such as caves and crevices. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the water flow in the aquarium is not too strong, as this can cause the sea cucumber to become dislodged and stressed.
