The Yellow Sea Cucumber, also known as the Orange-footed Sea Cucumber, is a species of echinoderm that belongs to the class Holothuroidea. As its name suggests, this sea cucumber has a bright yellow body and distinctive orange feet that it uses to crawl along the substrate. It can grow up to 12 inches in length. In the wild, Yellow Sea Cucumbers can be found in shallow waters and coral reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region. They are detritivores, meaning they feed on decaying organic matter and plankton that they sift through the sand using their tentacles. In the aquarium, Yellow Sea Cucumbers require pristine water conditions with low levels of nitrates and ammonia. They prefer a sand substrate to sift through and a moderate to strong water flow. They should be acclimated slowly to the aquarium environment and should not be housed with aggressive fish or invertebrates that may harm or harass them.
