Threadfin Rainbow, also known as Featherfin Rainbow, is a freshwater fish species that originates from New Guinea and northern Australia. They are popular among aquarium hobbyists due to their striking and unique appearance, easy care, and peaceful nature. Threadfin Rainbows have a sleek and elongated body shape with iridescent blue and green colors that contrast against a silver and black background. The most distinctive feature of this species is its long and delicate dorsal fin, which resembles a feather. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals to feel comfortable and display their natural behavior. Threadfin Rainbows prefer a planted aquarium with plenty of open swimming areas and hiding places. They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms. Threadfin Rainbows are peaceful and compatible with other peaceful fish species, but they can be sensitive to water parameters and require regular water changes and monitoring.
