The Watanabei Angelfish, also known as the Watanabe’s or Sunrise Angelfish, is a small and relatively peaceful angelfish species. They have a vibrant orange-yellow body with a blue face, blue dorsal fin, and blue tail. The edges of their fins are highlighted in a bright electric blue color. They are named after the Japanese ichthyologist Takashi Watanabe who first described the species in 1958. The Watanabei Angelfish is not as commonly found in the aquarium trade as some of the more popular angelfish species, but they make a great addition to a peaceful community aquarium with other small fish and invertebrates. They are generally hardy and easy to care for, but they may nip at soft coral and other invertebrates in the aquarium.
