Wisteria is a popular freshwater aquarium plant that belongs to the family Hyacinthaceae. Its scientific name is Hygrophila difformis, but it is commonly known as Wisteria due to its long, thin leaves that resemble the foliage of the Wisteria tree. Wisteria is a fast-growing stem plant that can reach up to 20 inches in height. It has delicate, feathery leaves that grow in opposite pairs along the stem, giving it a symmetrical appearance. The leaves are light green in color and have serrated edges. In the aquarium, Wisteria can be planted as a background or midground plant, either singly or in small groups. It is relatively easy to care for and can thrive in a wide range of water conditions, but it does best in soft to medium-hard water with a pH of 6.0-7.5. It requires moderate to high lighting of 2-3 watts per gallon, and regular fertilization with a complete liquid or substrate fertilizer to promote healthy growth.
