The Arrow Crab, also known as the Spider Crab, is a popular saltwater aquarium species that is native to the Western Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico. It gets its name from the arrow-like shape of its body and legs. Arrow Crabs have a relatively small body and very long, slender legs with sharp tips, which they use to catch and eat small invertebrates such as shrimp, crabs, and snails. Arrow Crabs are generally peaceful and can coexist with other species in a reef aquarium, but they may become aggressive toward smaller tank mates and other Arrow Crabs if they feel threatened or crowded. They prefer a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock and hiding places. Arrow Crabs can be kept singly or in pairs, and they require a moderate to high water flow. In terms of diet, Arrow Crabs are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods. They will scavenge for leftover food, but it is recommended to provide them with a variety of meaty foods such as chopped shrimp, krill, or fish, as well as algae and seaweed. Arrow Crabs should be fed once a day or every other day, depending on the amount of food available in the tank.
