August 17, 2023Eight-banded Butterflyfish
The Eight-banded Butterflyfish, also known as the Eightline Butterflyfish, has a distinctive yellow body with eight thin, vertical, dark stripes running from the back of the head to the caudal fin. The dorsal and anal fins are also yellow with black margins, while the caudal fin is clear with a black margin. The eyes of this fish are surrounded by a bright white ring, and the mouth is small and pointed. These fish are popular in the aquarium trade due to their striking appearance, but can be difficult to keep in captivity due to their specific dietary needs and tendency to nip at corals.
