Madagascar Lace, also known as Aponogeton madagascariensis, is a unique and attractive aquarium plant that is native to Madagascar. It features long, lace-like leaves that grow from a bulb and can reach up to 20 inches in length. The leaves are a deep green color and have a delicate texture that makes them stand out in the aquarium. To cultivate Madagascar Lace, plant the bulb in nutrient-rich substrate with the top of the bulb slightly exposed above the substrate. This plant prefers moderate to high light levels and will thrive in water temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH of 6.5-7.5. It is important to avoid disturbing the roots of the plant as it is sensitive to damage. Madagascar Lace is a relatively slow-growing plant and can benefit from regular fertilization with a complete liquid fertilizer. It is also recommended to provide CO2 injection to encourage healthy growth. With proper care, Madagascar Lace can add a unique and striking element to any aquarium.
